"

"Before I finished this portrait, I referred to some sketches and photos. I used warm and harmonious hue to present the smile of a modern Uygur cotton farmer, in the hope of revealing a modern Xinjiang people's inner world in a fine and lifelike way. Looking at this portrait, you feel like looking at an old acquaintance. He is so simple, honest and kind, with a soul as pure as white cotton. In a world filled with too many political conflicts and lies, the cotton farmers and the cotton in Xinjiang should not fall as a victim. I strived to make this portrait thick as oil-paintings andtransparent as watercolors. Its thickness relies on the solid portrayal of the body structure and its transparency comes from the thin layer and lesser cover of the paint. It is undoubtedly a challenge between a pair of conflicts."
