As an aesthetic movement, Abstract Art has had its time, at least in terms of being the dominant style of modernism. Fine art can be recognisable again, and Realism is once again receiving due appreciation. But what is realism in a world where our perception is continually influenced by the media? We regard reality very differently than we did in the past; now, even the idea of a single reality is questionable. The discovery of photography was of fundamental importance to the way in which artists began to represent the world around them: by bringing it to a standstill. The artist Andrei Zadorine adds an extra dimension to this aspect of his work by sequencing still images to form a painted photographic series. Atanas Matsoureff is a realistic watercolor artist, but also works in stylistics and magical realism. He was born in 1975 in the town of Bansko, graduating from a high school with a woodcarving profile, though, or perhaps because he has no academic education today, he is one of the greatest talents in watercolors worldwide. His works are present in all modern watercolors catalogs. Winner of prestigious awards in Bulgaria and abroad, and his creative biography is rich and varied. It is difficult to count his participation in exhibitions, and “Drawings” will be the 16th individual exhibition for the artist. Another recognition for Atanas Matsoureff is his nomination by Scottish aqua artist Angus McEwan to participate in the Fabriano Biennale in Italy, where his watercolour won the 1°prize and his solo exhibition will be on show at the Museo della Carta e della Filigrana during next Biennial International Prize “Fabriano Watercolour 2020”. Stanislaw Zoladz was born in 1952 in Poland, and has studied at Kraków Academy of Fine Arts. Since 1978 he lives and works in Sweden. To find motifs for his paintings, Stanislaw is always on the hunt for exiting light settings. In the summer he paints where growth gives way to rocks by the water in Stockholm's archipelago. Nature is a predominant theme in his works of art. But quite often an abandoned tractor, or a red cottage by the horizon, also remind us of human presence. Every year Stanislaw travels to exciting places to paint. Some places where he has found inspiration include Italy, Gambia, The West Indies, Lofoten in Norway, Morocco, Spain, Åland and Finland. While new places can be inspiring, so can dear old ones, which you know like the back of your pocket. In Simpnäs and Arholma in the Roslagen Archipelago, outside of Stockholm, are Stanislaw's favourite spots to paint. There, he returns to same motifs over and over again, finding them new each time light and weather sets a little bit differently on them. If Stanislaws paintings have one thing in common, then it is his impression of light.

Angus McEwan was born in 1963 in Dundee, Scotland. Angus studied at the Duncan of Jordanstone College Art in Dundee, graduating in Fine Art and a Post Graduate Diploma in the same discipline. Angus was elected to the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours (1995) and in 2012 the Royal Watercolour Society. In 2005 he was recognized as an Associate of the International Guild of Realism USA. Angus has been Finalist three times of the "International Artist Magazine" and won first place in the John Blockley Prize in the RI open exhibition. Angus has also won second prize in the Sunday Times Watercolour Competition (2007) in London and the International Prize "Marche d'Acqua" Fabriano, Italy in 2012. In 2013 Angus won Bronze Award, at the Shenzhen International Watercolour Biennial, in China. Different galleries display McEwan’s works, including Ok Harris Gallery in New York and Quanhua Gallery, Shanghai. Recently highlighted in Shenzhen Biennale and the Qingdao Hall of Watercolor. He has exhibited in Fabriano, Italy in the "Marche d'Acqua" International Award, as special guest and Vicenza, Italy, where he had a solo show in the "Artbox". McEwan was one of the 23 finalists in Narbonne, France at the Concours Mondial de l'Aquarelle 2014 1st World Watercolour Competition. Angus also exhibited at the World Watermedia Exposition, Thailand and Myro Gallery, Greece. He also participated in the Second International Watercolour Exhibit in Thessaloniki, Greece. Angus' work is in many private collections throughout the United Kingdom, Norway, Netherlands, Australia, Turkey, Italy, China and North America. He has had 23 solo exhibitions, numerous collective shows and has won 23 awards of different types. He has also held watercolour workshops and demonstrations in Fabriano, Vicenza, Bologna and Moscow in the past years.

Oliver Vernon was born in New York in 1972. He received his BFA from Parsons School of Design in 1995, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn. He has exhibited his work in cities all across the United States including New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, and Chicago, and has also shown in London and Toronto. His work is part of numerous collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Visually, Brooklyn based artist Oliver Vernon’s paintings draw upon an incredibly varied pool of influences, from abstract expressionism, to post pop surrealism and the polished finish of figurative realism. Formally, his work is about the deconstruction, and hence the necessary reconstruction of visual space. From this central dichotomy stems many others: logic/illogic, physical/metaphysical, imprisonment/liberation. His paintings come to us, perhaps, as detailed snapshots of the few primordial milliseconds when the blueprint of the universe was being sculpted from the final throes of chaos. In this sense, anything goes. Each painting has it’s own set of rules, or rather the rules are being bent, broken and ultimately formed within each painting. Color, form, energy, architecture, good, evil, flesh and machine are lurking, never as physical entities, but as transient archetypes searching out their final places within the framework of the cosmos. Apart from this macro view, Oliver’s work can be seen at the micro level as well. We can view his paintings as representations of how the mind is formed from a foundation of thought, reason, and aesthetics, and how these entities are simultaneously at odds and interconnected.
