My work is an exploration of contrasts - the power of two or more energies in opposition meeting on the surface of the paper to find resolution. Values of light and dark are present of course, but also vertical and horizontal forces, the collision of the built and the natural worlds, warm and cool tonalities, the "real" and the imagined, and narratives that delve into the passage of time. I hope to express both personal and universal experiences of the worlds within and around us to establish - with the silent vocabulary of art - an ongoing conversation with my viewers.
This work imagines a fictional cityscape in dialog with pure atmosphere. It speaks of the troubles of the present day in contrast with a world of possibility - the bright hope of an as-yet-unseen tomorrow.
