Nono Garcia
Spain
Nono García presents us with a different way of looking at the world, one in which a memory, the sound of the hands of the clock as they mark the hours, can be deconstructed into a succession of moments.
Objectivity is one of the aims of this painter; he transfers it to his canvases, capturing inanimate objects with total fidelity to detail. He works from the direct reality of the object represented, endowing it with the sensory and spiritual individuality of a painted image; where he represents his ideas through his compositions, he is interested in authenticity, not illusion.
His exquisite sensibility is able to see the beauty hidden in the ordinary. That is why when we encounter his works, in their reality, a lyrical disparity is established be- tween the object and its setting. Nono García’s work recalls the greatness of Spanish still-life painting, constructing new objects and allowing the organic essence to grow once more within what we have forgotten. They are clearly metaphors of vanitas, uncertainty in the face of time, the tempus fugit that becomes a vital sign.
