I was thrilled with the news that I am invited to take part in Fabriano 2020. I will be sorry to miss the opening, but delighted I will be visiting the Museum in late April 2022 to hand off my painting.

Fabriano paper is my favorite painting surface. The texture is perfect. I can reliably stretch it drum-tight and it will hold up to all I can throw at it. My favorite paper is rough which imparts a lovely painterly look to my works. Cold-pressed surfaces give me a finer finish and lend a beautiful texture to my brushstrokes.

For Fabriano 2022 I completed a painting specifically for the event. As I drive to teach one of my classes I pass this lonely little coin launderette. It is there by itself, and I see people sitting, reading, waiting for the clothes to dry. It brought back memories of my younger years when I was treated to a soft drink by my mother to help alleviate the wait. I imagined a couple with dirty laundry to get to, both literally and figuratively. The evening sky and the single streetlight add a solitary feeling.
