Jan Min

The Netherlands

Jan Min is driven by the pleasure he finds in creating atmosphere and lights found in the
land and seascapes around him.
Using different tones and shadings, he commits the beauty, that inhabits the places he visits,
giving them a sensitivity that is doubled with a latent poetry, which he strives with the
viewer. Most of them are places he visit or visited and captivated his attention.
Sometimes the subjects are places he would love to be, being in his studio again.
As soon as there is a passionate feel about his subject, he has a strong urge to paint it and
share it. The emotion of making the painting goes beyond all for him , just as purity,
simplicity and the art of omission
Only then there will be a connection with the viewer. This is often remarked by the public
about his works

Since 2015 he is a co founder of IWS Holland and is since 2022 the President of it.
He shows his works world around in many exhibitions, is a much invited Master guest ,did
win numerous awards (latest :Fabriano International Watercolor certificate of Merit , a Top
25 International Award and a Merit Award in the NWS/RWS Exhibition in Edinburgh)), is an International jury member, gives many demo’s and workshops live and online, is a respected teacher , has many publications in well know magazines and published his book: Catch the Light.

Most of his joy in teaching is to inspire other painters, letting them feel the happiness of
creating, improving their techniques and levels, and loves to make connections between
people.
