Malcom Carver
Australia
Malcolm Carver’s fascination with architecture is only matched by an absolute commitment and passion in sketching, painting and etching. With an eye for simplification of detail and an obsession with light, Malcolm is increasingly pursuing the ‘less is more approach’ to watercolour with minimal strokes, fresh colourful pigments, taken directly to paper rather than mixed in a palette. This delightful immediacy of watercolour brings vibrance and richness to his art.
Much of his work has an architectural influence, he draws constantly in sketchbooks during his world of painting, teaching and travelling, He is always seeking to capture moments by taking a line for a walk, always with discrete care to indicate rather than state. Malcolm’s work is influenced primarily by impressionists where the play of light on subjects becomes paramount.
He has won numerous awards in both art and architecture throughout his career and his paintings are included in a wide range of international collections
