My work is concerned with the idea of meaning as an invented phenomenon. Work is never planned, but emerges from an instinctive approach that employs painting and newspaper collage. The ideas are invariably topical because of this, but they’re not tied down to being focused on specific meanings. That always comes at the end of the process and therefore provides an element of surprise. I’m not a traditional watercolour painter but I love how it works; it’s fluidity and intensity.
