Eduardo L. Solana Jr.

Philippines

Eduardo Solana Jr. was born in 1979 in the picturesque village of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. From a young age, he demonstrated a keen passion for drawing, starting with humble beginnings using pencils, Crayola, and pastel colors. His talent was nurtured in high school, where his teacher recognized his potential and encouraged him to participate in art competitions, where he won several awards. This recognition led to him becoming the president of the school's art club, further fueling his love for visual arts.

"As I honed my skills in painting, my love for art only grew stronger," Solana shared. Through his involvement with the art group, he explored various mediums, including poster colors and latex paint, which he preferred for larger pieces like backdrops and murals. Even before attending college, his talent earned him a position as an artist with Del Monte Philippines in Bukidnon.

"While preparing for college, I knew exactly what I wanted to pursue," Solana said. He went on to study Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Advertising at San Carlos University in Cebu, where he discovered his love for watercolor painting. "This is where my affinity for watercolor truly began, and it remains my favorite medium to this day," he added.

Throughout his career, Solana has been driven by a passion for art and a commitment to continuous learning. "Each piece I create is a labor of love, born from my deep passion for art," he emphasized. He credits his mother for instilling this love, recalling how she supported him by buying art supplies and encouraging him to participate in competitions.

After years of balancing his artistic pursuits with a successful business career, Solana decided to fully commit to his passion for watercolor painting in 2017. Since then, he has actively participated in numerous exhibits and art events, both locally and internationally, earning prestigious awards such as the Grand Prize Winner of the Philippine Guild of Watercolorists in year 2020, 2024 and the very recent 2025 8th National Convention with his piece “The Weavers.” and Finalist of IMWA International Masters of Watercolor Alliance last 2021 with his painting “The Abundance”

Inspired by the works of timeless masters like Van Gogh, Cezanne, and Picasso, Solana generously shares his expertise with aspiring artists through free demonstrations and lectures. "Giving back to my community is a way for me to express my gratitude.
